My take on the NEW blair witch!
Possible Spoilers
I thoughts it's gonna be a let-down since all these people kept whining about something. But the ending was unexpected and rather good imo. The one thing that bothered me was the use of cheap jumpscares throughout the entire movie. At one scene James was going to check this camera attached to the branch near the tent, then suddenly Talia pops out of nowhere and this unrelated crunchy sound comes up for the sake of just scaring us. Really guys? It was so corny and unnecessary.
Sound plays a major part in horror movies. But the overuse of it is just annoying. People jumping out on other people too, that's another lame thing in the movie which got overused.
When Ashley climbs up the tree to bring down the drone camera, was the witch just sitting down there ready to drag her out to the nothingness at the last moment? If everyone was in the witch's domain, then all of their decisions should be her command. Then why let that girl climb all the way up just to push her down and drag out in the last moment? They could've written a better script on those parts instead of going with just the jumpscare and loud noise.
Kept aside such simpler and stupid way of treating scary elements, it was fun and entertaining. Never thought they'd show us the witch, she looked like that thing in the [Rec] (2007) but way more big i guess.
