Terribly boring.

I wasn't a fan of the first blair witch especially when it is advertised as "scariest film ever" etc.. when it was just not but credit where credit is due it was one of if not the first of the "handheld horror" genre. So I thought I'd give this a go thinking maybe just maybe it will one of those very rare moments where the sequel is better than the original and just found it so boring! Did any one find this actually any good with a reason why? Maybe I'm missing the point?

"scariest film ever"

Almost every movie is advertised like this.

reply

Absolutely agree. I wonder how they get around the false advertisement laws...

reply

Scariness is subjective. Just as most delicious is subjective. Thus film studios and restaurants aren't perpetuating false advertising when making such claims. If they made a quantifiable claim that was false, it would be false advertising, but calling something the scariest movie ever is perfectly acceptable.

reply

^Exactly, it's logical that it would be advertised like that. I mean, The Exorcist is called "the scariest movie ever". That doesn't mean everyone will find it to be that scary.

reply

This is why I like imdb message board I learn new things! And yes I didn't find exorcist very scary at all.. and I watch that at a young age.. im hoping one day I'll find one that will turn me into a pillow hugger.

You're not missing the point the movie is just not that great. I happened to like it, but that's more of a character flaw than anything else. i like most of the "found footage" movies i've seen even though i can't support them at all in any logical way...

reply

You didn't like neither The Exorcist nor TBWP. Maybe horror movies are not your thing, darling

reply

I thought it was good because it added to the witch's abilities, and unlike a lot of people (apparently), I'm fine with them leaving more questions than answers in movies. It makes it less predictable and more dreadful to me, not knowing why or how something in a movie is happening. It's just...happening. And that's what makes it creepy to me. There's no rhyme or reason, it just happened. Also, I liked Lisa'a character, she was a bit of a jerk at the beginning, but I liked her a lot at the end, mainly because the actress was by the far the best in the whole movie. Finally, I liked it because the last half an hour was tense, scary and absolutely insane. It was like playing through a first person horror game but not at the same time. Many people say that's a bad thing to them, but I liked it, it immersed me into the situation more.

But you liked it enough to come here and give us your opinion?

Damn.

If I only had gone to the board to see your message before I saw it...

I certainly wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.

reply

You're absolutely right. I love the first one but I'm literally sitting here struggling to sit through this one because I heard it has a good ending. This is like one of those fake ass MTV reality shows that are obviously scripted. The "Jump Scares" are so predictable and poorly done that they're funny. I don't even know why they bothered making this a found footage movie considering all the terrible acting, contrived writing, cliches and general stupidity.

reply

Lol, indeed! So many missed opportunities and unfortunately it spoils the 'original'. There are a lot of movies that are portrayed in such a manner now and to be frank, I find them utter sh#t. We don't live in an era where people get easily scared and or are easily shocked by the imagery and using such 'scare tactics' done so poorly comes across as a lack of understanding of the genre.

I'm glad for those who do like it but I would have appreciated it if they remastered the old one in HD and tried to sell it as 'new'. 😁

How can you like something enough to have a bad opinion of it, are you the target demographic for this retarded pile of sh*it? 
