Sound design ruined it

I'm not even done watching the movie but already dissapointed. The first half an hour was great, good character-building and very natural acting, also great cinematographie ( almost seemless cutting between "found footage" and normal footage).
But then after Peter somehow get's lost in the wood at night, it seems like the movie totally relies on idiotically loud noises for the sake of a jump scare.
Wouldn't it be much scarier and more in line with the original if the sounds were subdued and realistic? Just like the guy at the end of the original is standing weirdly "normal" in the corner of the house, instead of some kinda overdone, dangling fromn a rope, burnt alive type deal?

What normal footage?

There was no normal footage in the entire film..
It was the character's point of view with the small cameras behind their ear (those shots might have looked better, but that's mainly because the characters were sitting/standing still)

But about the sound and the whole editing bit, I completely agree. The noises drove me insane. Considering that group had great cameras etc, I don't see how they would make such weird noises/images while turning them on/off. I get that they tried to make it as if the Witch was interfering with the devices, but it was extremely unnecessary

'You're saying that that's a real person...underneath?'
