So the Blair Witch edited this movie? (spoilers)

At the end, we see that the footage found at the start of the film is actually from the end of the movie ... ie the Blair Witch killed them, worked out how to access the footage in their cameras and mailed it to them, uh, from the future to lure them into the woods.

....

Like most things in this flick, it was one of those things they thought would look cool and never thought about it.

The footage they watch at the beginning of the movie was sent to them by the couple in Burckitsville wasn't it? That's why they go to them as guides in the first place, to show them where they found the tape?

It seems to be implied that there's a time warp element involved, which is why one the guides hair/ beard grows so much and why the footage he sent to them at the beginning of the movie is actually from the end of it.

The footage of him being killed and all that would be on the tape along with a clear view of Lisa and the Witch. Someone must have messed with it.

No. That's all the footage there was. Everything else was static as stated by Lane in the film.

You're dumber than you think I think you are.

Yes, but WE see it. We're watching the footage that was found, remember? The camera isn't just POV*. So from the time Lisa gets clubbed to the time it's put back under the tree, some kind of processing must have occurred.

*It's entirely possible the director/writer simply forgot what we're watching was supposed to be found footage and all be on the tape.
