For the life of me I cannot follow the 2nd half

I saw Blair Witch at the cinema when it first came out. I was very focused on it all the way through. Yet, I was completely dumbfounded by the second half of it.

As a result, I watched it again, when it recently came out on bluray, in the hope of finally 'getting it'. However, even with subtitlese and concentrating hard from 45 mins on, I still felt at a loss as to what I had just seen.

I felt satisfied with BW1 and BW2. But I am frustrated with BW3. Why can't I put it together (rhetorical)?

So, am I not picking up on a story cohering the second half of the film together, or is it meant to be deliberately chaotic - say reflecting the ramped up emotions of the characters?
