The "Creature" at the end IS THE WITCH......WAKE UP SPOILERS

I just watched this film, it was pretty ineffective and boring. I was expecting a lot more.

Anyway, not to troll or ruffle anyone's feathers but I have seen some posts on here saying the director claims "the creature at the end is not the Blair Witch"

If you guys don't think this is an outright back track lie due to the movie doing poorly, what planet are you living on?

Not only do the filmmakers go out of their way to say "The Witch's limbs were stretched out on a torture rack" (hence explaining her long stretched out body structure) but the main character goes out of his way at the end to say "If you don't look at her (MEANING THE WITCH) She can't hurt us.

It sincerely sounds like Adam Wingard is just bitter towards fans because no one saw the film, so he wants to *beep* with people for not seeing it theaters, clearly this was meant to be the Witch, but it was poorly received.

They would not have gone out of their way explaining the torture rack backstory or have the main characters "get in the corner and refuse to look at her" at the end of the film.

Either way the movie was a missed opportunity.

Go watch THE GUEST though, great Adam Wingard film.

apparently if you watch the making of documentary on the Bluray, which I'm sure is more interesting than the movie itself, the editor routinely refers to the "creature" as being the witch. I'd be willing to bet the director who edited the film with him was doing the same thing. Pretending it wasn't the witch after everybody crapped on the film and nobody went to see it was just Wingard and his writer trying to sound more clever than they really are to try and drive more people into the theater and save it from complete failure. It didn't work.

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after the BTS stuff was released it's quite clear they were backpedaling after people called it the crap it was.

Exactly! And on the BluRay "Making of Blair Witch" sound engineers clearly indicate that the creature is indeed the Blair Witch by explaining how exactly they came up with how she was going to sound, etc. Pretty disappointing for them to backpeddle considering that the way the witch was revealed was tastefully done.

Simon Barrett basically said on twitter, the creature we see IS Elly Kedward, but now the Blair Witch. According to his tweets, the original creators have clarified Kedward isn't the original witch.

Elly is and always has been the witch. To suggest otherwise is just laughable and completely disrespects all the lore.

The Making Of documentary as Simon Barrett saying "no one creatively involved with the film believes it is the witch" - ten minutes later it cuts to the editor saying it's the witch lol Barrett & Wingard are the only two making excuses cause they know they messed up huge showing the witch and it's uninspired design.

Does anyone have timestamps for when you can see the creature? I saw it in cinemas so I couldn't freeze frame it. But I intend to download the movie and pause on those frames. But I know that they're so short that if you blink you'll miss it.

1hr 17mins 36-37secs, just checked. I don't know what all of the fuss is about, I certainly wouldn't want that thing chasing me around a dilapidated house.

Anyway, I've got no idea who said what about if it is supposed to be the witch or not, but I do think it would be more effective if it actually turned out to be Heather (presuming there'll be a follow up). I don't care what the writers or director had in mind when they made the movie if a change of mind doesn't backtrack on anything explicitly stated or indicated in the film. I'm sure tons of movies get made with the makers having one idea in mind which they then alter without us ever knowing by the time a sequel comes along.

I was kinda hoping it was Heather instead of the witch. Would of been more satisfying.

Rustin Parr was the one responsible for bringing children to the house an making them stand in the corner because he didn't want them looking at him, not the Blair Witch.

I'm sure the implication is that the girl who was tortured was falsely accused. Then the witch used her as an avatar.

What a cop out. I hate when film directors try to mess with the audiences mind by telling them what they saw wasn't what happened. Nolan did a similar thing with Batman in The Dark Knight Rises.Nobody could figure out if Batman died or faked his death.
