Fuchs claimed Hitler claimed he wasn't German

In this movie, Klaus Fuchs claimed to Oppie that he had been British since Hitler told Fuchs that Fuchs wasn't German.

Based on his reaction, Oppie seems to have interpreted this as meaning that Fuchs was a fellow Jew. As one of the early Nazi actions leading up to the Holocaust, Hitler revoked the citizenship of German Jews.

However Fuchs, although an enemy of Hitler and a supporter of German Jews, doesn't appear to have been himself Jewish. So his claim that Hitler claimed he wasn't German doesn't seem to be accurate. Fuchs never lost German citizenship and was never told by Hitler that he'd lost German citizenship.

Perhaps Fuchs was trying to distance himself from his German roots because he'd been previously falsely accused of being a German spy and had been held in wartime internment camps for a time. Ironically, although falsely accused of being a German spy, Fuchs was later accurately accused of being a Soviet spy, and spent time in prison as a result.
