Why did Detective Kerrest....(spoiler)

Why did Detective Kerrest shave off his goatee? The first thing Anna told Kerrest was that his face is the only face that she recognize since her accident,and she believe it was because of the goatee. Yet they spend their first night together ,and the first thing he does after making love is shave his goatee. Why would he do something like that? He's aware of her condition,and why she recognize his face.

No, she only figured out it was his goatee that she was recognizing AFTER he shaved it off. Before he shaved off the goatee, she thought that he was just that one special face she could always recognize, and she indeed told him as much, so he thought it would be okay to shave off the goatee. AFTER he shaves it off, THEN she reaizes that it was his goatee, not his face, that she was really recognizing.
