This movie was great, the score on IMDB is too low, WTF

I would rate this movie at least a solid 8/10.

It's not as good as Blomkamps District 9, which I rate as a solid 9.5/10, but still very entertaining, great storyline. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Although the movie had potential to be even better, close to same the league District 9. It definitely had potential for more. But as it is, it was still a good movie. Way over a 6.6 rating imo.

Not sure why it's only rate 6.6, here. Maybe some people rated the movie down just because of the message it sends.

Also a lot of comments on this boards seem racist, but in the movie it wasn't just latinos, blacks and others who were living in harsh conditions on Earth, but also whites (Matt Damon wasn't the only white left on Earth). so don't really get why some people jump to conclusion to say this movie sucked because it promotes immigration.

I agree. I see trash like Pacific Rim rated higher and I just shake my head.

A rating of 6.6 is "above average." I gave it a six, too. It was a decent watch, but I knew half-way through that I would never watch it again.

It wasn't bad, certainly, but there are just too many Hollywood traditions that need to be disregarded. Almost every single line spoken in the movie is like-- has no character. It's a script. Everything moves us from point A to point B. No one has strong individual character, the movie is too short, so everything is like a snap-shot of a bigger picture.

It's just not ENOUGH.

I agree, I think this film should be in the Top 250. Not only is it a stylish cool sci fi thriller, but a lot of the issues are pertinent to today's society.

I dont know what people are talking about race. The whole think is about socioeconomic class warfare, I thought it was clear as day as separation by wealth.Blomkamp just picked the actors on quality. Braga has always been good. Wagner Moura is becoming a star of his own in Narcos. Sharlto Copley specifically wanted to play the villain Kruger after usually playing the good guy.

I was on the Deadpool (top 100) forums, saying this was better, and they have some fervent fans. But truly, for anyone who truly cares about this world should prefer films like thi s and Children of Men over these superhero movie that someone can create almost entirely from their computer.

I really loved Elysium, Blomkamps sci-fi concepts are really fresh..sharlto copleys head regeneration was classic. Lot of cool concepts & visulas in this movie. Yeah it's plot was not a 10 or anything but I own the bluray. Alot of novice movie aficionados stupidly love to compare movies to other ones that just aren't the same it's like apples & oranges. Like if I give a comedy an 8 rating and an independent drama the same rating I catch flack but I'm ratimg the comedy in that genre and the independent as an 8 in that genre.
I'm glad Neill isn't doing Alien 10 or whatever , he needs help writing but I know he's capable of making something totally awesome still. Wouldn't mind D10 either.
