The only problem with this sort of thing...
...and please bear in mind that I thoroughly enjoyed TFMITM, is that each and every production of this sort has to have a slightly ironic "modern" sheen. The speech patterns and turns of phrase all have to be post-Gervais - the facial expressions and physical tics even. It's almost as if they're terrified of losing the younger audience if they don't give the occasional knowing "We're sending it ip really" wink to the camera.
This wasn't the worst offfender by a long way, but these films spend so much time getting the clanking period details right then make the dialogue sound like it's being delivered by Charlie Higson in the Fast Show. I'd love to hear what people actually sounded like in those days, their actual speech patterns. I get the impression irony didn't even EXIST back then.
As I said, it was a great film apart from that.
Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!
