The very sudden and abrupt cut to the close-up shot of the sentionaut's terrifying face chilled me to the bone. I certainly didn't expect anything like that. A beautifully creepy moment in this great film.

I agree. I thought the scene was frightening and disturbing. The movie was, IMHO, a wonderful, dark, trippy experience. However, I can't watch the movie anymore because of that one scene.

I just watched this film for the second time and seeing it has been a few years I had forgotten about that moment and yes it really grabbed me!
