shareThat's the press screening, right?
I hope you can write a review. (:
Any word on how the films will be ordered at the press screening?
shareFor the TIFF screenings they played Him and Her back to back (3 hour and 10 minute runtime).
Any opinions on the movie? I've been really curious about it. Word of mouth on social media is extremely positive, from what I've seen.
I was at that screening. It was very good. The contrast between the two parts was very interesting. You see how a different perspective can really warp the events on one story. I won't give away spoilers.
Oh, and I was reminded of Kieslowski's Three Color trilogy while watching it.

I'm honestly terrible at reviews but since you asked here are is my immediate reaction to the film(s).
I think opinions will vary depending on your life experiences and how well you relate to each character.
My screening played her first then him. While I thought the acting was superb I found Elanor's story to be dull. I constantly was checking my watch during the her section of the movie. Due to the way the movie is constructed I was disoriented for the first 10-15 mins as I was introduced as the tragic event happens before you meet the characters (assuming you don't read up on the film).
While I found her story to be tedious and unnecessarily long I came to value that section as it gave me the information i needed to thoroughly enjoy the Him side of the story. I found this side to be phenomenal as I could not only relate to James' character but found myself charmed by the directors choices with the nuances of the film. There were subtle changes to events, clothing, actions that very much gave me the feeling that i was seeing this story through a different lens.
After the conclusion of the movie the director came up for some q/a and through that we found out that the male side was written first and only through the pestering of the female lead was the second script written, which imo shows during the film.
While writing this I wondered if I would have felt differently had the movies played the other way around.

I hope this helps. I'm much better at answering questions than writing reviews so feel free to post any questions and I'll look back every few hours.
I watched the first screening with Him's first and I really think that watching Him made Hers more enjoyable because it fills in some gaps and answers some questions. Also, it allowed me to see my favourite part of the movie in a through different eyes.
Thank you all so much for the reviews. It seems the consensus is that "Him" should be watched first, which makes sense for the fact that it was written first. I'm so excited for these two films! I can't wait to see them both!
shareI saw the last screening (Her first, then Him) and loved it! I too think that Him should be seen before Her, but in the end it doesn't really matter all that much. The music was also fantastic! Can't wait for the score to be released.
