Nod to ERASERHEAD

I'm sure that someone else has mentioned this but the director is obviously a BIG fan of David Lynch's ERASERHEAD ! The early scene in the living room is very similar in tone and style to the scene in ERASERHEAD where Henry meets his in-laws for the first time (awkward pauses, older woman who keeps yelling, older man just sitting there smiling, in-law who suddenly does inappropriate sexual advance (touches his knee), main character who just sits there and takes the abuse without reacting much, etc). Plus of course the overall style of the film (black and white cinematography, constant industrial noises on the soundtrack, lights that keep switching on and off (frequent in ERASERHEAD), ...

Not that there,s anything wrong with this, of course.

Was that the scene in Eraserhead where their dinner starts to come to life? Or move... I don't remember exactly.

And yes I think I heard someone on these forums refer to the psychiatrist as a Lynchy kind of character, but not in those words. ;-)

I wouldnt call it a nod, more of a straight up rip off of style but thats not a problem because i love eraserhead and liked the fact centipede 2 borrowed heavily from it.

Yeah!
(((Spoilers)))
I also noticed the Eraserhead similarities as well.... Pretty much every scene with the son & mother... Totally "Lynchian". The movie itself can't be compared to Eraserhead though... Eraserhead was genuinely disturbing... Without having to try to get over the top gross/nasty/controversial.
Therefore, I wouldn't call this film a "rip off"... Matter of fact, I felt those "homages" to Lynch are what really made this film rise above the typical horror movie and made it something a little bit more special. There was also a homage to "Blood Feast" as well.
All in all, I think HC-II was a pretty cool movie... I liked it better then the first one. This had a very funny/surrealistic plot... I couldn't take any of this seriously... So I just sat back and laughed in disbelief. I mean, in the last film, we had a real surgeon perform these "medical feats" in a sterile environment, here we got a "retard" (that's what he is called in the movie... Don't get angry at me) and he performs the procedure with kitchen utensils, duct tape and a stapler gun.
Bonus points for being filmed in B & W, cartoon sound effects, and for bringing back the lead actress from the first movie, to play herself, as a ditz!
There are lots of reasons not to like this film... But I really enjoyed it. As gross as it is, I laughed more then anything else.

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

Tom Six says in the interview (in the DVD extras) that he loves Eraserhead. You can definitely see the influence in his film.

Next time you see me, it won't be me

Yes! I noticed that too. I'm surprised I didn't see that mentioned on here.
It gave me the same queasy feeling that Eraserhead gave me upon watching.

Eraserhead is a million times better than this pile of dog turd.
