Casting the lead role

How on earth do you cast a person to play the lead role in this movie? In the first movie, it's more understandable - in a sick, twisted way, the scientist was quite cool. But for the Martin guy, the actor was sure to be presented as the ugliest, most disgusting *beep* in the world, perverted and retarded. I'm pretty sure the payment wasn't very good, being part of this movie isn't something that you put on your CV in hopes to get new jobs and it's definitely not going to be recognized as a masterpiece (at least not by the general public). So I'm wondering, how is it possible to attract anyone to this role? (However, I have to add that the guy did a great job.)

Going on looks alone, I think Laurence R. Harvey should play The Penguin in the rebooted Batman movies.

That would be perfect casting right there. I could see him as The Penguin.

I bet he gets blown in strip clubs free now. Him and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.

So kid; ya wanna be in pictures? How many of the actors in this took their parents to the premier?

I was kind of surprised that it was even a lead role. Technically, it seemed like a featured extra role. There were other people that actually had lines and those were lead.

About pay though, probably not much. The budget for the first was like $1.5 million Euros and it only made back a few hundred thousand.
