Born to Make Crappy Movies

It wouldn't bother me so much if Seagal always made crappy movies, but because he made 2 or 3 excellent movies in the 90's, I feel compelled to watch all his movies, always with the hope that he'll recapture the magic he used to have with making movies. His last 20 movies or so completely sucked!!! Movies suck because of bad acting, or low budgets, bad effects, unreal plots, etc. Seagal seems to find a movie WITH ALL THOSE BAD ATTRIBUTES. I think we should make prisoners watch his movies as punishment.

I too loved some of the stuff he made in the 90s and I'm kinda hoping to one day stumble across a movie that recaptures that spirit but I've pretty much lost all hope. Now I keep watching his movies just to see how much worse they keep getting and get some good laughs reading these boards.

And it's not like Seagal himself is putting much effort into the roles; he's not even interested in being properly heard on the audio track.

... But that's the beauty of it. Seagal makes such crummy films, they're memorable for just how awful they are. I've seen all of his latest direct-to-video release, and yes they are bad. They include all the elements you mentioned from acting to editing. But think about the effect it has on people who realize this before even renting. Yes, Seagal was good (at best) in the early days but from then on he's become a cult in himself. Like Tommy Wiseau from The Room, his movies are "so bad they're good" kind of movies. That would be the only darn reason I could even rent a Seagal DVD, besides using it as a paper weight.

Pistol Whipped,Driven to Kill,The Keeper,A Dangerous Man,Submerged,Maximum Conviction and this movie are his best straight to dvd films imo,i will say that there are few good shootouts and fight scenes in his other straight to dvd films

It's a tie between Seagal movies and The Asylum as to who makes the best crappy movies. The difference I think though is that The Asylum is aware their movies are a joke. But Seagal actually thinks his films are legit.
