No executions such as hanging back then
So how did they execute criminals? Or did they?
Beheadings were popular. Then the Romans came along and Crucifixions became the rage.

shareLong before he wood chipper some clever French men invented a device that could chop your head off so quick that you could still blink after it left your shoulders. The guillotine is a much more humane device then the electric chair, hanging or poison injections. If were still going to have capital punishment bring back the guillotine. It shouldn't be done publicly though that is really bad taste. The French chopped of over 17,000 heads with it is frightening how petty of a crime could get you the guillotine back then. Robespierre was responsible for so much death his name should be remembered alongside Hitler and Stalins.
shareHanging is thousands of years old. So are various techniques of decapitation, drowning, burning, impaling, crushing, crucifixion, drawing and quartering, stoning, starving, exposure to the elements, exposure to wild animals, poisoning, throwing people off of cliffs, and other things I can't remember right now.
