It needs an extended cut
This movie needs an extended cut.
Look at Alexander... The ultimate cut is the best release of that movie.
I remember that Ridley had a 4 hour cut of this movie.. I hope he will release it.

I'm on board! Lets hope that the excellent success of The Martian gives Scott some extra funding to make the extended edition. While we're at it, Scott mentioned his original cut of Robin Hood was 3.5 hours and contained a Crusade battle along with a white wolf. I'd day one buy both of these. I'd also want an extended cut of Prometheus with nothing else added but Shaw hacking away at the engineer for a good minute or so. Please Ridley Scott. Your fans await!
shareExodus is probably the Ridley Scott movie most in need of an extended version.
The Martian will probably get one very soon but the theatrical version is already quite good.
I'd never heard of the 3.5 hour cut of Robin Hood, but there was already an "unrated director's cut" of that film so I doubt there will be a longer one.
Prometheus could have had an extended version but Scott declined -- at least for now. It's interesting that he had the option, meaning that unlike his other films, this one seems to be up to him.
It's on the verge of being forgotten, but 1492: Conquest of Paradise at the least needs a DVD and blu-ray release in the U.S., and a longer cut would be outstanding.
Maybe if Ridley Scott wins Best Director the studios will start pumping out Ridley Scott special editions?
Exodus is the most urgent. Longer cuts of Prometheus and The Martian would be welcome.
Also, Thelma & Louise needs to have the original ending restored. It really, truly does.
The "Thelma & Louise" ending is perfect as it is.
"Exodus" doesn't work in the theatrical version.
It could be a good film with additional character scenes.
I bet Ridley is waiting until Ultra BluRay is here, then he can put the whole 4 hours
in amazing 4k quality and a new sound mix on one disc.
"1492" is great in the European Cut.
The only big problem of the film is the terrible accent of Depardieu.
Best solution: Watch it in Spanish with English subtitles.
I thought kingdom of heaven (another Scott production) was rubbish till I saw the directors cut. Now it's amongst my faves. I would definitely like to see a director's cut.
shareI like it how it is, though I'd still like to see a longer cut with excised material.
shareIt's way better than the ridiculous "Noah"
and I'm happy that the IMDB ratings reflect that:
"Noah": 5.8
"Exodus": 6.1
This movie has very good things in it, epic cinematography & a wonderful cast,
it just needs about an hour more time to tell the story properly.
Please release the 4-hours cut on Ultra-BluRay !
it needs to be cut
