Kasper's explanation to Katrine

Spoiler...

In the 3rd season after katrine had been going through a bit of an emotional roller coaster with Kasper and eventually snapped, I thought the way Kasper explained to Katrine why he had fallen out of love with her was so well written.

Through tears he explained to her that he had gradually lost his sexual feelings for her after she became a mother but he couldn't imagine wanting anyone else to be the mother of his children. His emotions were so genuine and honest, it was such a perfect scene. Her smile after hearing this was all that was needed to convey her feelings. This was exactly what Katrine needed to hear, she could finally let him go.

Such good writing.

^It's always one thing or another with Kasper. Katrine is so much better off without him.

I agree that the explanation was good. I was quite into the Katrine-Kaspar pairing, but I wasn't the fan of the whole "child" thing. So I was really glad with the season 3, when they didn't go all corny-lovey-dovey about them being a happy family. Kaspar was very obviously against having a family because of his own family and personal history, I cannot blame him with a trauma like that. He never really dealt with his psychological problems. He didn't have much of a respect for his mother, which was probably one of the reasons he lost interest in Katrine when she became a mother herself. It shows a writing consistency.

I also really like what they did with Katrine-Kasper. It was mature and realistic character arc. Kasper has a lot of issues, which he has managed to suppress/repress in order to move forward but he is far from being okay. If he and Katrine suddenly became a happy perfect family, it would've been a total cop out.
