This generation's "Beautiful Thing"... :-)

Very tender, understated movie. It doesn't hit you heavy with dialogue, or overly sensationalized queer culture (aside from the one brief appearance of a drag queen :-P )... The two main actors... You know, honestly my first instinct is to say that Lou Goossens stole the show with his expressive face and subtle eye contact, particularly towards his love interest, Alexander, but my "inner child" may just have identified more with him based on how *I* looked at that age. I was super awkward looking back then. I mean, I still am 30 yrs later, but... In a bit less dorky a way I suppose. :-P
The camera loved Young Hearts' two young stars. The lighting was exceptional, the movie's music seemed pretty on point with regards to its ability to capture the emotions of the characters in their journey throughout the movie.
There's just so much good to say about this movie that I truly have no qualms about putting it among the best young queer youth coming of age movies of the last 40 years. Highly recommended. It will bring you through the emotional gamut, experiencing the emotional highs and the devastating lows of its two young actors. If this movie manages to get enough "buzz," I see no reason to believe it won't stand the test of time in young queer cinema.
10/10 for me. I was hooked from moment one and was glad I took the time to enjoy it.
