Saw Kaboom @ TIFF

Great film. Much more like "Nowhere," rather than "Mysterious Skin." An impeccable soundtrack of shoegaze/nu-gaze, and a fantastic score by Ulrich Schnauss and Robin Guthrie. As a long-time Gregg Araki fan, I can't say enough great things about this film!

Araki was at the screening (along with Thomas Dekker) and, in case this isn't common knowledge yet, he said "Kaboom" was going to be released in February. Mark your calendars, if you haven't yet!

Oh wow I wish I went to that screening! You went to the Wednesday night screening? I wish they tell you in advance if they are going to be there. I went to the Saturday noon screening. I definitely got the Nowhere feel from this and it was definitely Gregg Araki from the first minute. I loved most of it except for the ending.

Indeed I did! I was able to buy tickets for that screening online and just hoped that he'd be present for what turned out to be the North American premiere of "Kaboom." Actually, he made it sound like we were the first people in the English-speaking world to see it.

I didn't mind the ending. It seemed a bit rushed and weird, but hey...it's a Gregg Araki film. The end sequence of "The Doom Generation" is still his best to date, IMO.
