Oh look, another person new to Gregg Araki. Here is some 101 on his movies.
1. The comedy involved is something called black humor. Either you like it or you hate it. Obviously, you didn't enjoy it, so I advise you to probably just stay away from any future films by this director, and any other films similiar to these, because the humor is going to fly across your head.
2. A lot of his movies have an abrupt ending or "shocking" like this. As I said before, you will either love it or hate it. Gregg Araki's films tend to be very surreal, and like a dream, they can go from seemingly normal to downright strange in the blink of an eye. There is hardly ever a happy ending.
Cheers for trying out the movie though! Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I thought the movie was just perfect, and am eagerly awaiting to see what else Gregg has in store :) Last I heard, he's writing some pure-horror, so I'm beyond stoked. I'm expecting something very Sam Raimi-esque.
True, I'm new to that director.. And thanks for the answer btw..
I do know what "something called black humour" is.. it can be funny from time to time if done right.. Anyhow.. The movie wasn't boring. Meaning I might watch another one of the same director if I'm bored.
But I still don't see what's good about any movie ending like this. I can deal with unhappy endings, and earth in pieces, but not like this.
