One or two centuries after the Zombie Apocalypse, The Church of Carl will be the predominant religion in the Walking Dead universe. His epistles will be the Holy Book of the Carlist religion and children will be taught about the Miracle of Carl, when His Holy Words brought an end to war and everlasting peace between mortal enemies.

Seriously now, the writers went way overboard with the Carl worship. Everyone kept talking about what Carl would have wanted. Negan gets all teary-eyed at the mention of Carl, drops his guard and allows Rick to slash his throat. Rick, who just one or two days earlier had ruthlessly killed a dozen Saviours after promising not to, now spares his mortal enemy, the man he had sworn to kill, the man whom his longtime friend Maggie wants dead above anything else. If that is not a miracle, I don't know what is!

I agree, the entire Carl dying, the letter, the aftermath left me very annoyed. It's true, I didn't really care for him, never care for rugrats in shows. Grimes is not a very good actor IMHO. The "Dying show" left me yelling at the screen "JUST DIE ALREADY, PLEASE!".

The "letter show" freaking annoyed me too. It was too much, and now the aftermath - I GET IT , I REALLY DO!!

Again with the kill-ahundred-dudes-but-spare-the-boss scenario. Sick seeing it everywhere but it is heavy in this show. Poor writing at its worst.

I've heard this theory before, but I don't understand what are the basis for saying that Negan will be the next leading character. If they did that, they'd lose a lot of wievers methinks.

Maybe, but he is a very popular character, as is JDM. AMC pays a lot of money for him.

So, no real basis, just wild speculation. BTW, since Negan's arrival ratings had a huge drop, so I guess he's not that well liked... Anyway if I was to never see again JDM's smug mug I'd be a happy camper.

I belong to the site "The Spoiling Dead Fans". There are insiders that "hear" things. I'd say check out the site, become a member, it's free, and see what is written. It is far from "wild speculation".

I agree with you about JDM. I can't stand him.
