I hated watching that fight. I just knew the showrunners would make Negan invincible again. It has gotten so ridiculous at this point, I'm afraid they aren't even aware why the ratings have fallen. People are tired of Negan and his painfully obvious plot armor. They didn't even let him have a single scrape. He emerges from a 15-20ft fall, dodges bullets from an assault rifle, dodges pistol shots, and survives a thrown axe and Lucille used on him.
Now, it could be Rick was tired and not doing his best shooting -- but for a professional cop to miss every single bullet just makes you shake your head.
I'm going to finish this season as there are only a few more episodes left, but I might bow out for Season 9 if something drastic isn't done about Negan. We need to talk about Negan -- he's a terrible drag on the show.

Because the stupid writers think that mass amounts of automatic fire hitting cars and other metal objects makes a fun show.
Not to mention that those bullets would have went through that sheet metal like it wasn't there,and still killed him.
shareWasting bullets is never a problem on this show. No matter how many times the good or bad guys say ammo is getting low, the rapid-fire bursts of gunfire still continue.
Rick is supposed to be a smart leader, yet the writers make him as stupid as everyone else. Unless you're giving covering fire, shooting without seeing your target is just idiotic.

So true, and so annoying how they frequently fall back on that. It's easy and lazy. I'd have preferred a situation where Negan had zero bullets, and he knew Rick had exactly four, and we spent a few minutes watching them play cat and mouse around the car.
It's like how on The Following, Kevin Bacon never shot at the damn tires.
