When did you stop watching?

I stopped watching once Glen died. I figured that was enough for the show. Did you stop watching? When? If you're still watching the show; what's your favorite part?
Are you also a fan of "Fear the Walking Dead?" Why?

reply

Season 4 sometime in this strange hospital.
I just realized that this show is going absolutely nowhere, the writers have no idea of a good plot and its just going from one location with new baddies to the next.
And guess what, i was right.
Would be pretty pissed if i´d be still watching it now.
There are too many quality TV Shows nowadays to waste so much time with a boring procedual show like this.

I think there's potential to make the show better, but there's no end to the story. It just keeps going. This is why I also stopped reading the comic. After a while, they just become psycho's who meet a new antagonist.

I stopped watching this exact same episode. The previous season was built up so much that one of the main characters was going to die. They get to the season finale- we finally we get to see- and it shows the bat hitting the camera and the episode ends. Everyone gets to wait another couple months to see who dies after an entire season of build up. It was so lame. I watched the next season opener to see it was Glen who died and then I was done. It just had more of the same feel and tone when this has happened many times before, and I felt this was just going to be another rinse and repeat story line. I couldn't take it anymore. TWD is one of my favorite shows of all time but it just needed to end.

reply

I felt the same way about How I met your Mother and Scrubs. By the third season, the shows went downhill (though some episodes were a lot of fun). It's great to have watched the previous seasons and been entertained.

reply

I'm still watching. I want to see Rick.

reply

In that case, I hope you really enjoy the show as it progresses. I may not watch, but it's good that others can still enjoy it.

reply

Thanks. I have always said that upon Andrew Lincoln leaving the role, I will be done with the show for good.

I really enjoyed watching the Terminus situation. I can fully understand that view.

I tried to get into fear the walking dead, but it failed to be interesting. I thought I was being too harsh so I threw in the second season... It still wasn't working for me.

Enjoy the Show.

I like the show, but I prefer to watch it on delay. I know the commercials are the reason they are able to make the show, but sometimes they go to break in the worst possible places. And they tend to go for the stronger premiere than finale (AKA cliffhangers). This will be a completely different and better show when the whole run can be watched front to back. There are whole seasons that cover only a couple weeks in the story. Same with the comics, except people have to wait a month for the next one of those. I like that the show stays faithful to the comics, but also adds in enough original material to keep it interesting.

Fear had a really good season when it looked like that show wasn't going to make it. The new season should be interesting, especially with the new cast additions.

I never stopped. I've been tuning in since the pilot episode aired on Oct. 31st, 2010. Even as lackluster as some of the episodes were in the past, I always managed to tough it out. My favorite part is and always will be the original gang meeting Jenner at the CDC ("TS-19").

As for "FtWD"...meh. Not a big fan of the series. I'm actually hate-watching it at this point, lol.

reply

Glenn rolls safely under the garbage can incident.

That was the final nail in the coffin. My patience was already wearing thin but after that wildly stupid scenario and then they don't even address it the next episode, that was it. I was done.

reply

AND AND!! THE SHOWRUNNER AND AMC conned and fooled everyone that Glenn was dead. Even having demands on Steven Yeun not to be seen on social media, etc. They manipulated the audience for weeks. That was the straw that broke my back.

reply

If I had stopped watching up to Glenn and Abraham's death I wouldn't have missed anything.
It has been notably and consistently bad ever since...All last season and the first half of this one has finally turned the corner for me. I just don't have the interest anymore.

I haven't watched the mid season premiere and have no plans to watch anymore this season.
I'll keep reading reviews and opinions to see if anything changes...but otherwise, I'm done.

Same. I stopped watching in November last year. Didn’t see the last 3 or so episodes of the show and pretty much either read episode summaries or figured out what happened from what people said on this board. For me, I kept watching almost out of obligation. I loved the first season, but ever since then it’s been going downhill ever since. I kept watching in the hopes that things would get better, but instead we were met with more idiotic storylines, horrible arcs and just really boring episodes.

The farm was so bad and boring. Them wasting bullets and doing target practice on anything else but zombies was dumb. Sometimes I wondered how stupid they could get, they just lacked any intelligence. I used to be one of those Daryl lovers, I felt like he was the heart of the show and would stop watching if he died. But now? I can’t even stand him anymore. The only good character left is Carol. They even turned Michonne weak. I just find that I no longer really care about or even like any of the characters anymore.

I think killing off Carl was a big mistake because he was the future of the show - an easy out if they ever decided to kill off Rick. He would be the natural new leader, since we’ve followed his family from the very start of the show. Rick and his family are the heart of the show. But now with rumours that Andrew Lincoln wants out of the show, Carl seemed like the natural next leader after a small time jump. Maggie also appears like she’s leaving the show. It seems like everyone wants off the show now, and I don’t blame them.

I absolutely hate this Negan story arc, and knowing that he isn’t going anywhere seals the deal for me. I want him and his cronies gone, but that isn’t going to happen. The show basically is wash and repeat. The group finds a place they think is safe, they meet a new baddie, the place gets destroyed and they move onto the next location. The zombies have become no big deal now. Now it’s all just about taking out new baddies.

reply

I also hate the fact that there is nowhere for the show to go. There is no cure, and there never will be a cure. So there is really nowhere for this show to go. With Carl now dead and a bunch of others wanting off the show, it feels like they need to do. Big time jump. Maybe age up Judith so that she can be a teen or in her early 20s, but would they even last that much longer in a zombie apocalypse. The original group now only consists of Rick, Daryl and Carol. I can’t see any of them lasting a few more years, let alone a toddler like Judith making it to adulthood. The fact she’s even lived this long is a bit ridiculous.

They need to move to a new location. They’ve stayed within the same general area for the entire run of the show. They need to head up to Canada or something. I’m sick of seeing the same type of locations over and over again. Have we even seen snow on the show?

As for Fear the Walking Dead, I started watching the show and was excited to see how the whole zombie apocalypse happened. But Kirkman and everyone at AMC lied to everyone saying we would see the beginning of it all. They quickly jumped ahead in the story and by the end of the first season more than half the population were zombies. I watched part of the second season, up to around the mid-season finale, then just couldn’t take it anymore. Haven’t watched since.

I pretty much hated all the characters, the only ones who seemed to have any intelligence were Strand and Nick. But everyone else I couldn’t stand. I especially hated the mother. But I just couldn’t stand how stupid everyone was. And their stupidity became even worse in the 2nd season. I’m surprised the show is still on, the ratings have been horrible and it killed any kind of anticipation for WD because there was just no break from all the zombies. Not surprisingly, the ratings for WD have gone way down since Fear debuted, but WD has gone downhill too so that’s also to blame.

reply

i question the lack of snow and cold weather as well. they are in virginia which does get a winter.

reply

Yeah I can’t recall ever seeing snow on the show, or even cold weather. It’s always just hot, it seems. They need a change of scenery, and they also need to stop feeling so safe. This combating every new group is tiring. They need to bring it back to the zombies and survival.

I heard that the zombies can’t survive snow, that they freeze in the snow. I can’t remember if that was mentioned in the comics or somewhere else. But it’s something that’s never been explored in this show. It would be interesting to see how the survivors in colder climates are living.

reply

i agree. i liked it better when they were on the move. it opened up more possibilities with storylines. i’m afraid this might be going the way of Lost.

reply

There is no more fear with the zombies. They dispatch them like they’re nothing. Their heads appear to be so weak you easily stomp their skulls in or cut through it like butter. It’s ridiculous. The only “fear” comes from other survivors. And with the upcoming other groups - like those garbage people and this other group I heard about who wear zombie skins or some crap like that, it just sounds bad.

It’s funny how they thought that Negan would be the saviour of the show, that everyone would want to see him, but instead he’s killed the show. He’s made it unwatchable. What they did to Glenn and Abraham was disgusting. And the way they toyed with everyone was also disgusting. Not only with the dumpster thing, but also having to wait months to find out who Negan killed. And this whole Negan storyarc is just horrible. As bad as the Governor was, I actually wish he’d come back so we wouldn’t have to put up with this Negan garbage anymore. How Negan is able to amass so many people to do what he wants, is crazy. And the fact the workers even put up with his crap, when they’re treated like garbage also makes no sense. The whole Negan storyline is just ridiculous.

The only thing fun about this show now, is seeing how downhill the ratings will get before they cancel the show. Are they waiting until they get the lowest viewers ever, including season 1? Usually shows try and go out while they’re still on top. But it seems like AMC will keep beating this dead horse until less than 1 million viewers tune in. They need another show like Breaking Bad.

RIGHT ON!!

reply

Yep, I've been saying this for years! I want a different climate to be shown. Anyhting, a wind, tornado, rain , flood c'mon give it! But NO, all the sweating provides for so much angst in their mind?

reply

A tornado would be interesting. Could you imagine zombies coming flying out of the air at you, while you think you’re safe on your property? A flood would be so realistic now too, given all the flooding going around everywhere. Flash floods would be especially scary since they come out of nowhere and take the group by surprise. But nope, instead we get hot weather year round.

reply

There was a storm with possible tornado around the time they met Aaron. That's the one where they were trapped in the barn and had to keep people on the door all night.

reply

they still film mostly in GA where there is rarely snow, even in the winter. If they really wanted to, they could do winter but it would rely on a lot of green screen and if you saw the scenes where Rick first went to the landfill, they're not very good at that.

reply

Yep, actually I can only tolerate Daniel and Nick. Now that Lennie James "Morgan" is headed over there maybe it will get even better than it did in season 3.
The mother is doing OK right now, ever since the second half of season 2. And that STUPID piss-poor actor who played Travis??!! OMG - good riddance.

reply

I actually preferred Travis over the mother. I really couldn’t stand her. I kept wishing every episode that she and her daughter would get bit or something. The only person from that family who wasn’t a total idiot, was Nick. Strand was the smartest out of everyone. The daughter was so stupid on that boat. I still can’t get over that little prisoner exchange they did, where that guy who died had a bag over his head and apparently his brother didn’t even think there was anything wrong with that.

Man that show went downhill so fast. The last episode I watched was when they were in that mansion in Mexico and that crazy lady and they were escaping her mansion and they all separated. I just lost all interest at that point. In fact, I had the episode on in the background and wasn’t really paying attention. I think that was the mid season finale.

Morgan could be interesting on Fear. I assume we would get to see what happened with his son, and leading up to him meeting that guy in the cabin with the stick they showed in one of those filler episodes last season, or a few seasons ago.

reply

It got better after they left Mexico. Much better. Re: Morgan, apparently there is to be a time jump on Fear to the Walking time period.
