after a couple days of thinking about it

I hope his line of "Don't carry this with you" is used as an excuse to practically ignore impact of his death. Because while I never cared for him, most other shows aren't going to kill a character of that age who's been on for that duration, so that's impressive. Ticked we'll probably see that damn hat again one day though.

I felt like the EP was on Talking Dead to keep Riggs in line. After all, they ignored the elephant in the room, the nature of his departure.

I felt like Daryl's line to Carl about "all these people are here because of you" was kind of bogus, anyone else?

Letting Carl have that much time to set his affairs in order was a bit too convenient.

I liked Carl's outlook. But tire of the trope where the dying teen says something generic and it's supposed to somehow be poignant. Because of course. But I feel like maybe Carl's views are what will motivate Rick to let Negan live. I've only started reading the comics recently, but I hear that Negan lives in the comics yet. And since Carl does too, Rick's reasoning in the comics has to be different. So in that regard, Carl's death would potentially serve a lasting purpose like was toted.

Rick came up with the idea on his own in the comics, it came out of the justification Negan gave for running things the way he did. Rick wanted to prove to Negan his way was wrong and Rick was right, but to be able to do that, he had to keep him alive. It sorta just happened because right up to the point where Rick was in position to kill him, he was dead set on killing him.

The thing with Daryl was because Daryl almost got them all killed with his rogue plan and Carl saved them with the evacuation.

Fair enough and thanks for the clarification :)
