So it wasn't Chandler Riggs idea after all

There has been a lot of speculation and rumor
about the character of Carl leaving the show because of Chandler Riggs wanting to go to college
..
But it turns out it was all Gimple..

Gimple is a fucking idiot. Carl and Negan had a pretty interesting relationship after the war ended.

Yes, he is. He always thinks killing characters off makes up for all the bad writing.

Honestly, I've been waiting for this to happen for years. It's the Walt problem from Lost. You figure the show started with Lori being early in her pregnancy. Add nine months. And Judith is now...2 at most? So let's be generous and say it's been 3 years of the Zombie Apocalypse. Carl was ten (ish) when the show started. It just doesn't work. By keeping Judith alive, they killed Carl.

reply

i agree with you.

reply

Why is that? Because of their ridiculously stupid timeline (that has never made sense) or can there only be one hope for the future?
The timeline has never made sense...a fact they've always conveniently ignored. They can do away with a kid that is obviously not 12 or 13 and age the little Judith up even as they keep Maggie amazingly flat bellied...and try to imagine that all the events and deaths have happened over such a short period of time...and it still will never compute. It doesn't matter who they kill.

If it's about fuel to insist the timeline is all so compact..... than that train has left the station.

And if it came down to Judith or Carl I'm sure most people would have chosen to keep Carl.

I'm not saying it's good writing or inspired or anything. But I think Carl being as tall as Rick was a problem without there having been a time jump.

I think ALL kids in any show, kill the damn show. Can't stand kids in shows. How Judith is surviving is laughable. Yea, I know , we need kids for the rosy future , if there is to be one for humanity, blah blah.๐Ÿ˜ถ

I think that letting Judith survive after the prison attack was one of the earliest blunders this show made. Sure wasn't the last, though.

reply

So true. As long as Gimple stays, the show will not survive. I post on The Spoiling Dead Fans website ,and they report that Scott Gimple is going over to FTWD. He'll ruin that just as it's starting to get good.๐Ÿ™„

It wouldn't surprise me if that had something to do with it, and if that's the case I think it's the sign of really bad writing. I mean, the show itself has been going on for eight years. Of *course* Chandler would hit puberty. He's been on the show from age ten to age eighteen. I agree with bohemianroxie, the timeline is ridiculously stupid. Why they couldn't have simply had the course of the show be longer and aged Judith, I don't understand.
