why Gregory isn't a threat

Or rather, why he realistically shouldn't be.

In order to go to the Saviors to betray Hilltop, he would have to get there. And likely alone, since I don't see anyone else defecting with him. I don't see Gregory successfully getting to the Saviors. First he'd have to navigate there. Secondly, he'd have to take care of himself and defend himself from walkers en route. I don't really think he's capable of this. He seems likelier to head in the wrong direction and get himself killed in a pathetic manner involving one walker.

Now, I think they'll get him to the Saviors perfectly fine for story purposes, but it'll likely show him leaving Hilltop, and next time we see him, he's arriving at the Sanctuary with seemingly little effort.

Oi, what's with all the hate on Gregory? So what, he was Mayor before the ZA and then he just kind of slid into his role because of being in power before. He isn't a bad guy and I don't think he's getting credit where he deserves.

For instance, he's sheltering both Maggie and Darryl who, if the Saviors found out are still alive, would kill Gregory for not telling speaking up sooner. So props to him for that.

He takes a lot of heat from viewers because he's not a Rick or an Ezekiel, where they are combatants. And being combatants in this world is leadership. But Gregory is a politician and he will think like a politician. There's nothing wrong with that and at least he's stepping up, keeping HIS community alive and surviving.

It's great that he can be politically minded, you're right, that is something they need, especially going forward. However, Maggie and Deanna have both proven you can be a politician in the ZA and not be a jerk and still help in practical matters. And yes, he's sheltering Maggie and Daryl, but I don't think his people would've allowed a refusal on that, so, props, but minimal.

Gregory is a lush and a priss and is marginally psychotic. Gregory must die. Die Gregory, just die.
