Did Eugene convert to the dark side?

He seems to like the system they got going on at Negan's camp and knows how to exploit it. Also Megan really values him and is giving him a good life there. The wive's plan to kill negan was sound but he didn't go for it wtf! Why?? Especially since negan killed his bff Abraham. Does it take so little to convert Eugene?

Of course not. He's waiting for his moment and he doesn't know exactly whom to trust to help him just yet. And he's smart enough to bow out of helping the wives with their ridiculous plot involving the suicide pills (which would easily be traced back to him).

That could easily have been a set up by Negan to see if he would do it for all he knew so he was wise to do what he did.
