So as we all know Nathan's trouble was him not feeling anything. I have been binge watching the series again and was wondering somethings. If Nathan can't feel, does that mean he can't feel a cold or having the flu? What about his bladder, would he be able to feel his bladder being full? What about if his organs are shutting down, like when Tommy shots him, did he feel his lungs stop filing with air?
Nathan didn't feel anything when Tommy shot him, just like he didn't feel the piece of wood cutting into his side in another episode. He just dropped after his body reacted to the injuries, due to loss of blood or heart failure. Who knows.
I'm sure the writers intentionally avoided those very subjects (illness, bathroom) because they'd be hard to explain. His "trouble" brought a lot of questions to mind, but I guess if one would buy a person having a "trouble" at all, any explanation would seem feesable. Many of the troubles defied logic and reason (cake lady would die of malnutrition eventually, guy who touched things and they'd turn to ash, yet his gloves didn't desintigrate), so the suspension of belief has to go hand in hand with most sci fi.
Valid questions! I guess he learned bladder control techniques. Lol. I'm binging too on Netflix. Whats driving me nuts is this... Nathan repeatedly says that Audrey's touch is the first time in years he feels anything. If the troubles only came back when Audrey came to Haven why couldn't Nathan feel for all of those years?
Because they said that the troubles come back over a period of a few years leading up to her return. His was apparently one of the first to come back this time around. Then, they accelerate as she arrives and go ballistic up until she leaves, then they stop again. Remember Simon (Duke's dad) was acting as a trouble killer, before Sarah showed up in Haven and even the pilot episode showed that troubled people were killing each other long before Audrey drove into town.
Many of the troubles they showed during each episode had been active for some time before Audrey arrived. The guy who was going so fast, no one but Audrey could see him, had disappeared a couple years prior, cake lady had been turning everything to cake long enough to gain a lot of weight, there are a number of examples of where the troubled person had apparently been dealing with their issues for months or years before Audrey, Lucy, Sarah, etc returned to Haven. I do wish they had explained this part a bit more thoroughly though. Like, WHY did they start returning years in advance, because technically, her leaving did NOT relieve the troubles for 27 years in between her coming and going.
Yes exactly! Definitely some things left unexplained on this show. But I'm almost at the end regardless. So Audrey/Mara going into the barn shaved a few years off of the troubles happening but didn't wipe them out totally
