Firefly

I would really like to watch Dark Angel even though it was cancelled before its time, but it's not on Netflix or On Demand.

Is there another way that I'm missing?

I can't change the laws in Australia, but if you were in the USA you wouldn't have an issue. Good Luck!

reply

It's funny that I always thought of Austrailia the same as the USA but with cool accents.

Guess I was wrong.

From Dark Matter (in reference to, but in no way encouraging). "KILL THEM ALL"

reply

Sorry, my bad. That response was meant for the cancelling of "Haven" post ?

Haven!!!! I can't believe still that its gone. I am rewatching season 5. Would live to see it return to tv. Nashville tv show is returning after being cancelled. Why not Haven?

Haven doesn't have a big enough fanbase to warrant a re-vival or anything of the sort. By the time it ended the series had fizzled out anyways and it seems like they took the lazy way out in the 2nd half of the final season.

I loved Haven, not so much at first, but definately in the end.
I think they ended it at exactly the right time.

I'm disappointed I didn't see more but happy that I didn't. ?

I wouldn't mind doing a 2hr moving ff into the future 5 yrs. Page remembering her past as Audrey, married to Nathan with another child, maybe a trouble left over where Duke is not dead. Vince, since he was the controller is there and explained why they still need him if the troubles return. They sit around on Dukes old boat reminiscing about the troubles, lol Then one day a gas leak happens

If you remember, which thread and topic was that? I bounce. back and forth so much I can't remember where I've been.!

reply

Omg she looks so Audrey in those instances pics!! Could there be a Haven reunion? ???? I can dream!

It's for an independent film, which just wrapped in Salt Lake City Utah, called An Hour Behind. I have no idea what network it was done for, but the write-up says it's a romantic drama about a woman who misses her blind date due to daylight savings time and ends up meeting a paramedic named "Parker." Kind of Movie of the week style. A couple costars or extras tweeted the info a few days ago.

You're so welcome! Unfortunately, little else is known about the project. I'd assume she is the lead, because she looks like the biggest star amongst all the others I've seen. It appears to be a small production, just based on the stated budget, so I have no idea where/when it will air or show, if it makes it to theaters or was intended for TV. Budget doesn't always indicate quality or success, so I'm optimistic.

It's cute that the guy is "Parker" in this. I'm sure that had her smiling a little as she read the script.

I tried 12 Monkeys and Dark Matter, but couldn't get into either one. I want to see Wynonna Earp, but can't find it on Dish anymore. Will have to wait till Netflix gets season one or Syfy repeats it.

I'd kind of like to see her stretch her wings in a completely different genre. I know Lucas is now playing a reporter on a new series yet to air and all of them have done a TV movie or two since Haven.

I think I'll forever miss them together though. Amazing chemistry.

I definitely agree with "Firefly" but at least Whedon and company were able to make "Serenity" and give fans some kind of closure(I'm still sore over Wash dying GRRRRR). A few others I think should have lasted longer are: "Space: Above and Beyond" and "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.". Strangely enough, all three of these were on FOX. You'd think with the success of "The X-files" that they would be a bit more open to other scifi shows.

**edit**Honorable mentions(and I can't believe I forgot them):

"Alien Nation"-Another FOX scifi show that got cancelled after one season but, similar to "Firefly", got several tv movies made later to help clear up loose ends.

"Kindred: The Embraced"-A vampire series based on the White Wolf role playing game, "Vampire: The Masquerade". And, YES, it was also on FOX...I'm beginning to realize exactly why I stopped watching pretty much anything from them. lol

Most modern series (like Haven), seem to be designed with a "finite" plot structure: they really can't run indefinitely. Sometimes, the popularity of a series may be its own undoing. For truncated sci-fi shows: (in no particular order)

1) The First Star Trek: I watched 'em when they were new - but only half of each one. My bedtime made it a half hour show for me.

2) Space 1999: I don't remember it well, and don't know if it's available anywhere.

3) Firefly: After viewing it again a short time ago, I can't believe how much ground they actually covered in one season, and wish they could have had a chance to continue.

4) Farscape: Great show, annoying at times, but great nonetheless. Netflix (for whatever reason) was unable to show the last 2 feature-length episodes.

And a hail out to Battlestar Galactica, which could not really have continued any longer, but did something i've never seen another show do, before or since: They put cut scenes in many episodes' "preambles" to restore plot continuity...More should follow this example.

1 Original Star Trek is very cheesy but it paved the way for TNG and all that followed so I'll let that pass.
2 Space 1999 - never even heard of it(but I will search for it).
3 Loved Firefly (FOX only made one smart programming choice - Family Gut)
4 Farscape - worst, most over rated, piece of crap I ever had the displeasure of trying to find anything remotely enjoyable in!!!!!!
5 BSG - can't watch it for free but it's on my wish list.
