Would've been a better ending...

Spoiler if you haven't watched the finale ...
Would it have been a better ending if the last 5 or so minutes were cut out and Audrey didn't come back as a new person?
Even though I would've been melancholy, Nathan's speech would've meant so much more to me. I was tearing up a bit, then the flash forward and the "new" Audrey. And suddenly his speech kinda felt cheesy.
Wouldn't that mean that what he had with Audrey wasn't really love? Because he loved her for her personality. Now it's just a woman that looks like her... Like a twin, but her personality was nothing like Audrey.
Also, why would the barn wipe her memory??

The point was, that every persona seemed to be drawn to or connect with Nathan. She was primping in the car and flirting with him, having just met him and then, when she asked him out to a breakfast of pancakes, he knew Audrey was "still in there", as he had correctly claimed before. Audrey found a way back, after saying that they'd never see each other again, so the overlay was something she was willing to accept, in order to get back to him. He knew that too.

Remember also, that Audrey told Vince and Dave, she knew that they'd fall in love all over again anyway. The writers said, that if we'd gotten another season, we'd see Paige remembering her life as Audrey. There was no Mara underneith, trying to squash Audrey anymore, so we knew she'd have come back through again. It was supposed to show a "true love" or "love of the ages" as the showrunners called it. I thought it was a great end, because they gave each other up for the town and then got a second chance, with their son too.

Finally, the barn had to wipe her memory, because those were the rules, initially embedded in the controller crystal. That's how it worked. If she was allowed to go back, it absolutely had to be as another persona. She wasn't going to let that keep her from going back to him.

Actually the ending was set up in case they got a 6th season. Paige, personal in car, would have slowly gotten her Audrey memory back.

Also, no matter which personal there was, everyone of them were attracted to Nathan. Even Mara didn't kill him though she had several chances. I know they say Audrey stopped her but I like to believe that underneath it all, Mara couldn't stop her own feelings, that little dot of white paint in a gallon of black.

A better ending would have seen Croatoan pay for his crimes and somehow be split from Maras dad in a way to allow Audrey and her dad to get to know one another afterwards. out just felt rushed all if a sudden he agreed to turn good?? Nathan with an audrey copy felt strange considering the end scene when Paige appears!! Duke should have lived.Audrey should have returned at the very end. It was tge series finale and although she did make it backnit still isnt tge Audrey personality its another new one.

she is not an overlay. it was the real audrey. she was sent back from the barn to him. i think her dad changed because he was able to feel what real love was.

he absolutely knows it's audrey. in time, she will remember too. it is not just a look a like. she came back from the barn. i loved his speech. had me bawling. but no, her coming back was a gift her father gave her. if you don't understand why the barn wipes her memory, then you haven't actually watched or understood this show.
