How hard will this bomb π£?
?
shareMight actually do alright... hard to predict.
A lot of parents may take their daughters to see it and it's got that ironic meme vibe to it where some dudes will go check it out for a laugh.
Or it could flop like a fish.
I just checked the budget. $100 million.
So this should need around $250 million to break even... it's doable for sure. A worldwide gross of $400 million when all is said and done would actually be a solid result.
If the budget is 100 million why do they need 250 million to break even?
shareBecause that's how the box office works.
Studios get 50% of the gross domestically (US & Canada), with an average of 40% of the gross internationally (only 20-25% in China), the rest goes to the cinema chains. So that alone means it needs to make around double it's budget to break even.
The other reason is due to the marketing, which is never included in the budget. That varies from movie to movie and is guesswork. Generally a big summer blockbuster will be spending $100-150 million on marketing. I don't think Barbie is that high but it's definitely getting a decent push.
Even still reported budgets aren't always accurate. 'Hollywood accounting' and all that.
A general rule of thumb that most people follw is that a movie has to make 2.5x it's reported budget to break even and 'enter the green' (make a profit). Of course movies have streaming and home media releases so if it fails to break even theatrically, but comes pretty close, it will still eventually turn a profit after it's theatrical run.
LMAO...TROLLING BUTTHOLES LIKE YOURSELF USE SAID MATH....THE REST OF US WATCH MOVIES AND JUDGE THEM BASED ON THEIR ENTERTAINMENT VALUE AND OUR OWN PERSONAL LIKES...ONLY EDGELORD CREEPERS PLAY THIS BUDGETING TO BREAK EVEN GAME.
shareThe hype is bordering on ridiculous so I doubt it will bomb. Not that i have any interest in it but this will make a ton of money.
shareI heard a bunch of teenage girls singing the theme song. It was echoing throughout a parking structure the other day. This type of vapid nonsense will be a hit.
The only saving grace is that Barbie is not black.
YOU ARE POSSIBLY THE FAKEST THING ON THIS SITE...AND THAT IS REALLY SAYING SOMETHING.π«€
shareThis might be the most hyped film of 2023. If it gets good reviews, it'll rake in a shit ton of money.
shareTracking to have double the opening of Oppenheimer:-

There's no way this isn't going to be a success.
We're gonna get a Barbie cinematic universe after this.

Stop trolling for responses. It's pathetic.
shareReally depends on the budget. I'm not sure if it appeals to kids these days, is Barbie still a huge brand? And, will it have enough nostalgic pull on the adult women who grew up playing with Barbie dolls? My guess is probably not, but if the budget is relatively low like 50 million then I can see it doing just fine.
