Microft is supposed to be so smart that he makes Sherlock look stupid so

why didn't Sherlock have microft work with him the entire movie to figure *beep* out Sherlock and microft working together Moriarty would have no chance

Sherlock and Mycroft did, in fact work together, in their own respective arenas. Having them side by side throughout the whole movie would have 'A Game of Egos' a more apt title.

It's Mycroft. I read the title twice and wondered, what the hell Microsoft has to do with the whole thing.

Mycroft always operated from the shadows (and after seeing Stephen Fry nude, I'm glad about that), he never was a central character that appeared all the time. It would've been too much, though I think Robert and Stephen could've pulled off pure brilliance interacting more.

has a thing for the dude portraying the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude

HA! I did the same thing.

Me too. But although he may have been Sherlock's smarter brother, he didn't actually do anything very smart in the movie, did he? He knew which wheel of his carriage was wonky, and he provided (ENORMOUS GREAT SPOILER ALERT) the obligatory nude scene, but that's about it. I expected Sherlock to tell him "...and don't call me Shirley!"
