Well, that was kind of unexpected.

I watched this movie as part of a Soderbergh marathon to prepare for 'Logan Lucky', and wow. I thought I knew what to expect seeing the positive critics reviews, and negative (to be generous) audience reviews. But what I wasn't expecting, was to actually really enjoy it. It feels like a mumblecore action movie that just happens to have A-list stars in it. And Gina Carano. The movie basically is the everyday action movie, but in the same way a gun or a car is a disassembled, Soderbergh does for the genre. The performances are fun, and laid back, and the action is filmed with a sparse hand. Story wise, it reminded me of the recent Atomic Blonde (which i also liked). The best way I could described this, is that, it's the most relaxed I've ever been while watching an action movie. I would call it more of an experiment in how barebones you can get with a basic premise like this, rather than a genuine entry into the action film canon. What do y'all think?
