Betrayed Girl Vows Revenge, Then Gets It

Yep, pretty much.

That's the problem with this flick. Not the girlfighting (which I liked!), not the casting (I actually see a future for this young lady). Just the complete lack of any story depth, nuance, specific character building, or twists.

They started us in the middle. Explained how she got betrayed (VIA DIRECT NARRATION to some kid she carjacks). Took her directly to getting revenge. No stops along the way. Just a very blunt and boring script.

Here. Let me re-write it - you tell me if it's any different than what you saw:

Mallory: "Hi. I'm Mallory. I was just betrayed."
Kid With Car: "Oh, that's too bad."
Mallory: "Yea."

Mallory: "Hey, there's the guy that betrayed me."
Kenneth: "Don't kill me!"

*kills him*

*roll credits*

Since we don't get to see the betrayal, we will never know how strong the villains really were. For all we know, these guys could just be a bunch of simps. They sure fought like it.

Looks like the only one coming out a winner in all of this was Steven Soderbergh. Not only did he get with Gina Carano, but he managed to direct an abridged movie without any hit to his cred before "retiring".

As for Gina, she's not that good. When Michelle Rodriguez can act better than you, it's time to hang it up. They're already talking about Ronda Rousey having a role in Fast and Furious 7. Maybe they're setting up a Rousey/Carano fight as a precursor to the real Rousey/Carano fight once Gina gets back into MMA.

As for this movie, only wannabe movie buffs looking for indie cred and submissives who love to fantasize about some hot chick beating them up like it.
