Why did characters overlook this simple, already-tried solution?

Not that they would have had this actually occur in the film, why didn't they at least consider having the King read his speech while listening to music over headphones, even as a last-minute Plan B? After all it was proven to work early on, and was the key factor in his returning to the speech therapist. They were alone in a secluded room, so no one would have seen this albiet temporary remedy. Yes, I realize that doing so would have robbed the film of of it's climactic finish and, not to mention, it's triumph for the main character. Just a thought.

I was wondering that myself. Though it wouldn't have solved the issue of public speaking, it seems the main demands on him were for radio broadcasts...

The problem is that headphones (especially those used at the time) have a tendency to "bleed" sound--especially when you turn them up enough to drown out the speaker's voice. So, you'd have the sound of the music coming across along with the speech. Hopefully, they wouldn't have used the music that was used in the film, which is from Beethoven's 7th symphony. A bad choice when you're giving a speech about the war with Germany.

Also, unless you have a lot of practice talking when you can't hear yourself, it's very hard to properly modulate your volume. People's natural reaction is to talk much louder than normal.

As Logue correctly stated,it deals only with the surface of the problem. If they used that solution,it wouldn't be as emotionally satisfying and would be a bit like "cheating". A speech is about more than fluency. He's up against Hitler,a man known in history to be a soul-stirring orator. If he adopts this idea,he'll sound flat and rehearsed and people would think him a "puppet king".

Completely unrelated but the title of your post reads like a penis enlargement ad.

Is Lionel Logue a pupil of the F. Matthias Alexander method?

How, exactly?

you are either watching too much pornhub or too many penis enlargement ads. And we all know how online advertising works. I think there are worse things in life than having a small penis man, get over it.
