Does anyone want a dark, gritty, depressing Archie series?

No? Well, we're getting one,

My sentiments exactly, and I don't even read the Archie comics. Here's hoping this crashes and burns so as to show Warner Bros. and the like that "dark, edgy, and gritty" doesn't sell anymore, if it ever truly did.

The "dark, edgy and gritty" route is getting old and quick, and HWood is wasting it on properties that don't lend themselves to that sort of thing. Save that for a Spawn movie or something, but not this.

Indeed it is. They're even trying it on the freaking Power Rangers. How stupid can they get?

reply

That might be entertaining, if unintentionally hilarious to see fall apart. That said, i could see it getting old really quick

No, definitely not.

I always thought Archie was supposed to have a retro-comedy theme, like That 70s Show. This is very sad.

On the other hand, there is a recent Archie comic that is trying to do this. And so far, it's getting a lot of acclaim. So, I don't know, maybe it'll be good?

I'll still give it a shot. At least it has the darn decency to be on network TV instead of making it a movie we'd have to pay to see.

What we see and what we seem are but a dream. A dream within a dream.

Weren't recent Archie comics pretty mature and (sometimes) dark with their content? Remember this comic?:

Yeah, ones that were done in a what-if, elseworlds, darkly comedic kind of fashion but barely made up the grand majority of the character's entire publication history.
