Special Fan Cut of Halloween 2018, For Those Disappointed...

Like many Halloween fans, I was somewhat disappointed in the poor storytelling of this film, the weak attempt at connecting it to the original 1978 film, all the unnecessary forced comedy and the extraneous dialogue. This is why I'm developing a fan cut of the movie for when it comes out on blu-ray, where I actually keep Halloween 1 AND II as part of Halloween canon, and make this film the 3rd film. While there are certain things that you can't get around without screwing up the plot continuity, there are plenty of things that can be cut without adversely affecting the storyline, and I am looking for YOUR feedback, in this regard.

Primarily, I feel it's important to give more weight to what Laurie has endured, in order to justify how traumatized she is 40 years later. The events of Halloween 1978 by themselves don't quite provide that justification, IMO. But when you add the events of Halloween II, THEN you have a pretty traumatizing ordeal that makes Laurie's state of mind in this new movie, make more sense.

Secondly, I was very disappointed to see the lame explanation that Michael was simply "apprehended" after he walked away from being shot off the balcony by Dr. Loomis. This completely destroys the potency of Myers being "The Shape" who has once again escaped and could be anywhere. Allowing the events of Halloween II to play out as they did, solves this problem. Michael is set on fire with the hospital explosion, which kills Loomis, but Michael survives.

So, how does Michael wind up back at Smith's Grove Sanitarium? Enter Halloween 4! We let the beginning play out up until he's loaded into the ambulance, and then we fade to black: with 40 Years Later on the screen. Since H4 is considered an alternate timeline and storyline (The "Thorn" Trilogy), I see no problem borrowing from its opening sequence to get Michael back to Smith's Grove Sanitarium.

This gets us smoothly into Halloween 2018, with Myers still being "The Shape", and Laurie truly having gone through hell. There will still need to be some nips and tucks with the new movie, as I mentioned, and that's where I'm hoping y'all can provide some suggestions. Looking for a way to make everything work, but with as little stupidity and pointless dialogue, as possible. I would like to hear your suggestions, as I am definitely going to edit together this fan cut, as soon as Halloween 2018 is released.

Thoughts, please!
