Wouldn't this be Halloween 2?

if they do one every year and call it the same name it would work out just like the holiday itself.

But then there'd be two "Halloween 2"s as well. I think they should have just called this one "Halloween Returns" so it had its' own unique title. I wonder what the next one will be called?

3. The original, Rob Zombie's and this one.

I figure it's because they're not really confident in how big of a branch this continuity will be, ie if this will be a one-off or the start of a whole new path. And so they feel it looks more confident to give it the same title as the original straight-up. And they'd rather have three movies called Halloween than three movies called Halloween 2 within the franchise. Big question, what will they call the sequel to this? Maybe an homage to another title, like Halloween: The Revenge of Laurie Strode
