The Ending Saved the Film
The finale in Laurie's cabin was amazing and totally saved what would have been an otherwise mediocre movie
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the showdown between Laurie and Michael, because at that point I had already decided that the movie was "meh"
But that ending was badass. It was kind of like their battle in H20 but much more well executed. And then the grand finale with the trap door was the cherry on top. It bumped the film up from a 5 or 6/10 to a 7 or 8 for me. Jamie Lee Curtis was great in every scene. If they go ahead with a sequel they need to bring her back because she was the best part of the film
My main gripe with the film was the death scenes in the second act. I get that Halloween deaths have always tended to be simple compared to other horror franchises, but I just found the deaths to be a little too quick and anticlimactic. I didn't feel like the tension was being properly built up for a good chunk of the movie
