I’m still partial to the original. Many from the sequels tried to replicated it in one way or another and most of them ended up looking like poor imitations. However the one in the much maligned Halloween 6 worked for me, it was sinister to the core.
But as far as this new one is concerned, it is already my favorite after the original (and that’s counting Halloween II). It’s the same version as Carpenter’s film, obviously, but it’s aged and severely worn down; yet, it gives off the same haunting vibe of the original. The level of detail that was put into it is impressive, too. That said, I prefer the simplicity of the original. It perfectly symbolizes the expressionless killer with the blackest eyes.
