Judy Greer as her daughter?

Okay besides the change of actor from Danielle Harris and the change of character from Jamie to supposedly Karen, I don’t care for this.

Mainly because it makes it feel too predictable. That well known of an actor, and playing Laurie’s daughter, do you really think there’s any chance of this character dying? Oh they’ll give her suspenseful moments to be sure, but she already has too much plot armor. My money says this means they’ll give Laurie a proper, dramatic send-off death (her death in Resurrection was fine, but as the prologue to one of the worst entries, really?), and then they’ll want Greer to carry the franchise, at least for an entry or two (because you’re kidding yourself if you think any entry in a horror franchise is actually intended as the definitive end, especially since they apparently all get multiple timelines now), which I feel would be a mistake. I realize I’m only speculating, and far out, but hard not to. Nothing against Greer, I think she’s a decent actor and she could very well prove me wrong, but I don’t feel like horror is quite a good fit for her, and if I’m right about their plans for her, that’s a lot of weight on her shoulders. I’d rather have them only have Jamie Lee Curtis, and other than her, have complete/mostly unknowns like back in the day. Would help give it a grittier feel too I think, that I bet the film will lack, it will more likely look like the glossier, more recent entries.

Don’t get me wrong, totally stoked to see it, just not wild about this piece of news.
