It was crap but brilliant, thoroughly entertaining schlock, the accountant was ace and we needed to see more of him for sure, I gave it 7/10 because it made me laugh too...
I went in blind on this as my housemate picked up the DVD and I like a lot of Cage's work. Didn't know what it was about, didn't read the plot line and looking at the title was figuring it'd be something like xXx (which was fine by me). But this was $hit Hot!! Had to give it a 10 just to negate some of the neg votes but it's an 8. 3D would've been even better.
I reckon there was a bit more depth to it as well. Loved the Accountants name that was revealed at the end...nice. That threw a new slant on heaven/hell for me. Loved Fichtner too. He stole the show.
And the chick getting shagged by Cage while he's blasting everyone to kingdom come. What a great concept! That's a lay you wouldn't forget in a hurry. Had a little Dusk Till Dawn about it too I thought. Great job! More substance than cotton candy (fairy floss here in Oz), more like a hearty pizza with lots of cheese. I'm still laughing at it an hour later. Bring on the sequel.
I didn't think this movie was horrible, but I definitely thought it was awesome. This movie kind of surpassed my expectations in all the areas that I judge my movie experiences. Also, I found it to be quite funny. Great movie. I'm thinking the low ratings are due to how gratuitous the movie is in so many different aspects (violence, sex, etc.). I'm all about movies pushing the envelope... but in good taste of course. At times that was questionable with this movie. But overall, I thought it did just that.
shareThis is a fun movie. Like the Van Damme flicks. The director, shows far more restraint than some other films. The actors have to tell his story as opposed to c.g.i. Mayhem.
"Yeah, I saw that, Brick, actually, killed a guy!"
Has the potential to become a cult classic. I'd see a sequel if they ever make one.
shareat the end of the day... it's one of the better simple action movies in recent memory as it's current 5.4/10 for the average rating is underrated as it should be more in the low 6's for the average. it's carried by Nicolas Cage/William Fichtner/Amber Heard.
7/10 (Thumbs Up)
p.s. my minimum score for a thumbs up is a 6.5-7/10.
