anyone else happy this is doing great box office?

early reports have BBFL coming over 60 M....

thats way better than tracking/expectations.

I really like the first 2 Bad Boys films....

I thought BBFL had the making to potentially flop....Given Will Smith has somewhat become Box office poison and Studios havent had much luck lately trying to rejuvenate old franchises....

But this is looking like a total win....The studio made the film with a decent 90 Million Budget and The Good reviews are definitely helping....

I remember reading that at first when The Movie was first Greenlit , it was greenlit to be a 2 parter, The studio wanted to Make a Bad Boys For Life and a Part 4 at the same time, I'm pretty sure Joe Carnahan even wrote a script for Bad Boys 4 when he was attached to write and direct both BBFL and Bad Boys 4.....

eventually the studio didnt feel comfortable making 2 films at once and Just went with BBFL.....buuuuuut with an Opening this big....

I'm betting Bad Boy 4 could get Green Lit Next week.

I'm happy for the movie ad franchise.....

BB4 has already been greenlit today.

I read about it about 20 mins after posting this....

I figured they waited for the weekend, But They must be pretty happy with early estimates....

another reason why it got greenlit so soon, again is I'm pretty sure they already got a script ready for part 4

Pre-Production probably isnt going to be very difficult, I bet They are now just trying to get Get deals done with the directors and actors to come back.

I imagine its going to be a pretty smooth process and They'll easily have a Part 4 ready release in 2 years ....and Probably will get it a summer release date...

wouldnt surprise me if They dont announce in a few months, The cast and directors have signed on and reveal a Prime Summer release date between May and July 2022....

Part 4 will probably have a bigger budget too, Maybe around 130 to 140....with The Studio trying to maximum a 4th movies Potential....

I am curious to see BBFL's overseas numbers though....

Neither 1 or 2's overseas numbers were great and Smith's overseas appeal isnt close to other A list Stars like Tom Cruise...

Its Entirely possible BBFL could do great domestically and Not Make a lot overseas....

I hope it's doing better elsewhere in the U.S. I just got back from a 9:20pm EST showing on the 17th. Only about 30 people in the theater at the most. Lack of people could be because of the winter storm hitting my town, but I don't know for sure. The storm didn't really start until the showing already started, so it's not like it was hard to get to the theater. Going home though would've been a challenge, but it didn't seem too bad. It's not like you were trapped at the theater. If you took your time getting home, you'd be fine. But the movie didn't seem like a hit in my town, so hopefully it's doing better elsewhere in the U.S. Oh and there was no Thursday night showings on the 16th either, so that wasn't part of why the theater wasn't packed. The movie didn't start until the 17th. There was only three showings too for people to choose from. 9:20pm showing was the final showing of the day/night. One before that was 6:40pm. So my guess is maybe the 6:40pm was the popular showing and the one to go to because of the storm on the way. But I don't know for sure.

I'm very happy. My wife and I just finished watching it about an hour ago and LOVED it. We were laughing our asses off. The theater was far more packed than I'd expected it to be and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I have to admit--this is the most fun at the movies since Endgame. Last film I saw was Jumanji: Next Level and, while I loved that, this one was simply great.

This film reminded me of Lethal Weapon 4 in several ways and was a real labor of love.

Take note, Disney Star Wars--THIS is how you resurrect a franchise and THIS is how you treat your fans.

This movie seemed to be catering to us fans who grew up watching these movies rather than trying to pull that "we're catering to a new generation" crap. Sure, it had the AMMO squad (Probably a future spin-off idea the creators might have), but they felt secondary to Smith and Lawrence...as it should be.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Star Wars is in such a bad place at the moment that Fast & Furious is doing a better job at its narrative than Star Wars. Go compare Fate Of The Furious to The Last Jedi. Both are the 8th movie and both took some risks with the narrative. Only major negative I can find in Fate's narrative is that the timeline is all screwed up. Dom/Vin Diesel is supposed to have a kid with his girlfriend from 5 and 6, but Fate Of The Furious takes places like 5 years or so after 5 and 6. Dom is back with Letty in 7 and 8, but when Dom learns he has a son with his previous girlfriend he was with when he thought Letty was dead, the kid isn't even a year old. Timeline doesn't add up. But anyway. Besides that, I feel that Disney should be paying attention to Fate Of The Furious to see just how things are done when it comes to taking risks. The Last Jedi is how you take risks in all the wrong ways while Fate Of The Furious did a lot right. Then throw in that Fate Of The Furious gets better every time I watch it. The Last Jedi gets worse. Oh and then Fate Of The Furious made me excited for Fast & Furious 9. The Last Jedi made me dread Episode 9. And after seeing Episode 9, the movie was meh/okay at best. Pretty sure I'll walk out of Fast & Furious 9 satisfied and wanting Fast & Furious 10. Interesting part is I consider myself more of a Star Wars fan than Fast & Furious. So I should be looking forward to the next Star Wars more. And I'm not a Star Wars fan that nitpicks about the smallest thing. Heck, I liked The Force Awakens and didn't mind the A New Hope remake angle it took. But if Fast & Furious is doing a better job than Star Wars in it's narrative, you know something isn't right with Star Wars.
