Unfunny and too many swear words

I swear. I swear tastefully. Im not a prude by any stretch of the imagination.

However, this was the first time I watched a movie and just thought... wow... they think that throwing the EFF word in ever sentence would somehow translate into laughs.

I didn't laugh once in this movie. I also just found it dumb. I watched the Odd Couple last week and I have to say, The Odd Couple was intelligent comedy with a heart. This was dumb... dumb characters doing dumb things for two hours... and throwing *beep* into every sentence, thinking that that would somehow elevate the humour. WRONG.

Maybe you should of turned it off and gone for a walk after the first half a hour or so

This movie wouldn't have been half as funny without a lot of the language, which combined with the characters and the settings made for some really amusing situations. Imagine Bobby Pettit's dialogue without any of the swearing. It just wouldn't have worked as well.🐭

The problem was, it wasn't actually funny. They thought that the swear words would "make" it funny. That's not clever. That's stupid. And it wasn't just Bobby. It was all the characters.

it's called "appealing to the lowest common denominator and you fit into that category.
those of us with relatively high iqs don't find "look at me, i'm trying to be funny!"-style comedy funny. :)

Don't be an idiot. The Marx Brothers are my all-time favorite comedians. I love Monty Python. Airplane was great, so was Naked Gun. Woody Allen movies are good, Wet Hot American Summer was absolutely dumb as hell. But I thought Horrible Bosses was hysterical, and can't wait to see the sequel.

Just because YOU don't find it to be funny, doesn't mean it's not.

yeah Woody Allen is far less superior comedy to this drool, are you kidding? learn to spell and appreciate art films then come back.

Anyone who liked this film is admitting they have low IQ and simple minds.

Great movies. Great dialogue. Very unique and a brilliant filmmaker

The charecters were all idiotic. The only reason people will see this: Jennifer.
The ony reason people will watch the sequel: Jennifer.

I really wanted to like this movie. I had a horrible boss, and when I would tell people about her, lots of people recommended this movie. At first, I could relate to some things, especially the Keven Spacey boss, but the movie was a huge letdown. I laughed a few times, but by the end of the first hour, I found I wasn't laughing anymore at all, and I mostly just found it painfully bad. At that time, I decided to end my misery and turn it off.

There really are truly horrible bosses out there, and I thought Kevin Spacey's character wasn't that far off from some of them, but for the most part, the movie was completely unrealistic and unfunny. I'm surprised it is rated so high, and that so many seem to love it. But then, this is the same country who decided the (affront to the TV original) 21 Jumpstreet movie needed a sequel. /smh I disown my fellow countrymen.

Are you dumb? "22 Jump Street" is one of the best comedy sequels of all time and probably the best comedy to come out since "Horrible Bosses".

And for you jackasses hating on Woody Allen, you all suck. Get your intellect up.

I get your point. However, in the song my swear words were carefully placed. HB just seemed to use swear words in place of humour. As though the swear words would generate laughter.

I just didn't find it funny... at all :/

overall i like the movie as i just finished re-watching it earlier today (Aug 25th 2015), which makes for my 2nd viewing total of it now, and i still mildly like it. i gave it a 6/10(a mild thumbs up).

the second movie on the other hand... it's boring. i could not even finish watching that one.

but that's the thing with comedy as peoples tastes can vary wildly as what i think is funny the next person might not and vice versa.

p.s. with all of that said... i think We're the Millers (2013)(7/10) is the best straight comedy of the current 2010's decade. although in terms of any movies i laughed at quite a bit... The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) (8/10) would be my favorite comedy in general as that's got to be my #1 movie in terms of all around laughs/enjoyment combo. but that's not really a straight comedy though which is why i went with We're the Millers instead.
