A swipe at special forces?

Auggie says: "In true Navy SEAL style, you can write a book about it."

reply

No, it was a swipe at the guys who have. I like the current events reference. One former SEAL recently claimed in a book that he shot bin Laden. Another guy who wrote a book about that mission was recently fined over $4 million for revealing classified information. Both have been in the news in the last couples of months.

Auggie's quip made me smile.

Eschew obfuscation

I liked it, too. And that's precisely what I thought it was--a VERY current reference to those (in special forces) who cash in and/or disregard the rules for their own purposes.

(While you are eschewing obfuscation, could you please avoid prolixity and consider my hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. Thanks)

Well that's the "ones" that are still alive to "talk about the mission"; didn't a few "die" or something? I remember hearing that some were "killed" b/c of too much information they may have had that was the "actual truth" on their mission. It does sound mysterious????

reply

Unlikely. If our own authorities killed any SEAL members after mission because of "what they know" first they'd have to kill every special forces member after every single mission they do in their entire careers--because every time they go in they "know" things.

Besides, I'm not sure anybody in authority is stupid enough to kill a "brother" of any of these guys on some trumped up accusation. If they did their lives wouldn't be worth living and they'd be looking over their shoulders the rest of their lives.

SEAL Team 6 is still present and accounted for--they just mounted a rescue mission in Yemen yesterday, of course....
