It's the best arc I've seen in TV. The 'friendly' backstabbing. Louie not even wanting the job, but doing it anyway. The quotes 'Daddy, I don't want you to change.' And then the clincher of David Lynch being the best cameo in history of cameos. Heartwarming, sad, funny and uplifting all at the same time.
Yeah, you're probably right about the arc. But I had just watched it and was in a mood, and a tad drunk so it just sparked something in me. Can I ask, what do you think is the the best arc in a TV series? I won't disagree or troll you, I'm just genuinely interested. I think Seinfeld did great with the nbc pilot arc and curb did good with the new show arc.
You can definitely ask and I will gladly answer! (and you can tell me I'm wrong and we can laugh at each other) ;)
I agree that Seinfeld's NBC arc was great... especially George tanking everything by being George.
I still need to get around to checking out Curb. I've heard nothing but great things, but haven't made it a point to watch it.
Anyways, here are some of my favorite arcs:
Cheers - any number of great arcs... the final arc "One for the Road" was pretty solid and stands out.
Community - The paintball arc... granted, it was spread out over multiple seasons so maybe it's not technically an arc. Loved it though.
The Office - "Michael Scott Paper Company" arc. Say what you want about the last few seasons (I will say it, they were bad), but this was a great arc.
MASH - "Good-Bye Radar", solid arc and a great sendoff for a great character
Eastbound and Down - The whole last season arc with Guy Young and Kenny Powers squaring off for about 4-5 episodes, was great. (this one is a bit of a stretch to define as an arc)
I wasn't trying to be mean or put down your opinion. I thought the Late Show War arc was solid throughout and really enjoyable. It's not like you picked an arc of "Dads" or some other terrible sitcom. You could definitely do a lot worse than Late Show Wars as a personal favorite.
Curb is LITERALLY everything you'd hope for as a Larry David fan. It's Seinfeld with Dirty Words and more honesty. I love Seinfeld but NBC gave it restrictions and it's ok, still a great show... But watching Larry David bug out absolutely takes the cake.
