Bully Episode from S1 - Mafia?

I just saw this episode. I had a double-take when the bully's father says he works in "sanitation". You may know that the Mafia controls the sanitation industry around NYC. You may recall the first episode of the Sopranos in which Tony tells Doc Melfi that he is in "waste management". Then I thought about the culture of violence within the family, how it is handed down from father to son and they seem to consider it inescapable. You can easily imagine the gang that Louie first encounters in the doughnut shop having been Chris Moltisanti and his crew back when they were in HS.

Coincidence?

I think you're reading too much into it. On the commentary for this episode on the dvd, Louis says that the conversation between him and the father at the end was entirely improvised, so it's just a coincidence.

Also I didn't really get the sense that Sean and his friends were acting like mafia thugs. They were just acting more like jackass douchy kids.
