I read a couple of threads about him and him playing Kuklinski. My opinion is that he should have played the role of Ray Liotta. It would have been badass but I think using Ray works. He is a badass too and totally corrupt.

I thought Vincent D Onofrio would've made a good Kuklinski.

Interesting comment. Shannon and D'Onofrio are somewhat alike in acting style, but D'Onofrio is too old and somewhat burned out now. He was compulsively watchable for many years, though.

Gandolfini probably is avoiding the typecasting thing....physically he has more in common with Roy DeMeo than Ray Liotta, who was basically doing a combination of his Goodfellas and Something Wild characters.
