EMPTY AND POINTLESS FILM
They had a great lead actor in Michael Shannon - he was wasted on amateur screenwriting and a director, without a singular and passionate voice. Any first year film student could have directed this film and came up with about the same unsatisfying and boring results
This plays mostly as a made-for-TV bio-pic. A chronicle of events strung together poorly and without any apparent dramatic purpose.
This film stayed with me about as long as it took me to leave my seat and walk out of the theatre.
A fashion parade of catchy period costumes. Some exciting facial hair and some very beautiful chiaroscuro cinematography.
How do these films get made with such awful director's and screenwriters?
